5-Hour Continuing Education Installer
Course
The
5-Hour Continuing Education Installer Course is sponsored by the
Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute and is approved by the Kentucky
Certification & Licensure Board (815 KAR 25:080), Manufactured Housing
Inspection Division. The course and instructor have also been approved
by the State Fire Marshal's Office. You will receive 5 hours of credit
for recertification as a manufactured home installer.
Recertification Requirements:

If you have been initially certified as an installer, you must
complete 5 hours of continuing education between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31
of each calendar year.

Upon completion of the 5-hour seminar, you can obtain your
recertification form. If you pre-registered for the KMHI training,
you will be issued your course certificate when you sign-out at the
end of the day, or if you registered on site, KMHI will send you a
certificate by mail within 7 days after completion of the course.

It is the student's responsibility to complete the recertification
application, attach a copy of the course certificate, send a copy of
the application and certificate to the State Fire Marshal's Office,
along with a renewal fee of $50. This must be done to be recertified
by the state.

KMHI will also send a copy of the class roster to the State Fire
Marshal's Office for its records.

Your state recertification application forms must be submitted to
the State Fire Marshal's Office prior to December 31. State
recertification forms can be obtained by contacting the State Fire
Marshal's Office at (502) 564-0364 in Frankfort.

15-Hour Initial Certified Installer
Course
The 15-Hour Initial Certified Installer Course is sponsored by the
Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute and is approved by the Kentucky
Certification & Licensure Board (815 KAR 25:080), Manufactured Housing
Inspection Division. The course and instructor have also been approved
by the State Fire Marshal's Office. You will receive 15 hours of credit
for the purpose of certification as a manufactured home installer.
Subject matter for this course is devoted to the proper and legal (code)
set-up and installation of manufactured homes in the Commonwealth of
Kentucky. Emphasis is made on the manufacturer's instructions and the
Kentucky Code to instruct potential applicants to become a manufactured
housing certified installer. You must satisfactorily complete the
15-hour course, course exam, and installer experience form prior to
applying for your initial certified installer certificate. If applying
for "certified manager", no experience form is required.

After you have been certified for 12 months, you must complete 5
hours of continuing education each year, in order to renew your
certification.
Important note: Remember -- as of January 1, 1998, ALL licensed
Kentucky manufactured home retail companies must have at least one
certified installer or certified manager in its employment.
